Gearboxes is a critical component in wind turbines application. Besides, maintenance of gearboxes have a huge impact over wind turbines costs and downtimes. This research aims the development of a technique for the online monitoring of gears. In this project, gear surfaces are inspected in real time, providing direct measurement of wear damage. The outcome of this research will increase the feasibility of wind turbines in the generation of green energy, which is of vital importance for our future.
